Porcelain veneers for that Hollywood smile
Made of very thin layers of tooth-coloured material, veneers are like false fingernails for your teeth. We offer two types: Porcelain veneers and composite veneers.
Veneers can be used to disguise chipped, misshapen, misplaced or discoloured teeth, by simply covering them up. For teeth that are only slightly crooked, veneers can be a quicker alternative to orthodontics as they can cover up the imperfection rather than straightening it out.
After an initial consultation to determine what’s right for you, your teeth are prepared to accommodate the veneers under a local anaesthetic, by shaving off a tiny front layer. Next, a mould of your teeth is taken which will be used to shape the veneers. Sometimes temporary veneers are fitted while these are being made. During a second appointment, the new veneers are bonded to your teeth with dental cement and you walk out with a new smile.
Thanks to advances in dental technology, the new porcelain, almost translucent veneers perfectly match your teeth so you can’t tell which is real and which has a ‘cover’. As such, porcelain veneers create a harmonious, balanced appearance. In conjunction with teeth whitening, they can produce that flawless, Hollywood smile. Porcelain veneers are generally more expensive, but longer lasting than composite veneers.
Composite veneers are less costly than porcelain veneers, but usually don’t last as long as they stain easier. However, they still produce great results and are often used in cases where only small corrections need to be made.
